Departure for a tour of the castles of Lviv region “Golden Horseshoe”:
Olesko Castle: The first written mention of the Olessky castle dates back to 1327 year, when it became the property of George – son of Prince Mazowiecki Rtoydena and Russian Princess Maria.
Boyars invited Yuri to the Galician-Volyn prince’s throne after the Romanovich family died out. This data suggests that the castle was built by one of the sons of the Galician-Volyn Prince George L. – Andrey or Lev.
Pidhirtsi Castle: was built in the 17th century by the French engineer Boplan whereas the three-story palace was built by Italian Del Aqua. This castle is more like a palace than a castle and is in stark contrast with the harsh militant outposts of Podillya. For the first time mentioned in 1445 in the Acts of Brodsky Batyevo estate in the village Pidhirtsi. Perhaps this is fortification on Podgoretsky mountain.
Lunch at the request.
Zolochiv Castle: built in the 1630s and is a citadel with bastions. Castle in the 17-18 centuries belonged to the Sobieski and Radziwills. Located on the hill and surrounded by ramparts and escarpment. In the castle’s courtyard the Great Palace and the Chinese Palace are built.
